Dean Ornish Program
A pivotal point in Manvi's career was her association with the Dean Ornish Program. Here, she made groundbreaking strides in cardiac disease reversal, positively impacting the lives of over 200 patients with stress management, nutrition, and physical therapy. She worked on the Dean Ornish diet, which focused on minimal fat, no sugar additives, and a plant-based diet focused on inflammation reversal and cardiac rehabilitation. She worked with over 200 patients and reversed their ejection fraction from 20% to 50% using nutrition and physical therapy. This professional milestone demonstrated her ability to apply nutritional knowledge in clinically significant ways.
Penn State Hospital
At Penn State Hospital, Manvi worked closely with patients suffering from a range of complex health issues including cardiology, oncology, and gastroenterology. Here, she managed and provided care for over 600 patients, showcasing her expertise in clinical dietetics and patient management. She worked with parental and enteral nutrition for ICU and Trauma unit patients. She educated and consulted patients suffering from cancer, heart disease, and gastrointestinal diseases, providing diet plans and tube feed formulas for post-operative diets. She also provided consultation on nutrition problems through the medium of nutrition via grocery store tours for low-income populations, exercise classes for senior citizens, new recipe ideas for the homeless population, lesson plans for students, etc.
Her role involved not only the application of her nutritional knowledge but also the development of patient-specific dietary plans that were crucial in their treatment and recovery process.
Journey into Master's Program
She then pursued a Master’s in Public Health from Boston University; Manvi delved into Epidemiology and Biostatistics with a minor in Global Health. This academic endeavor was a leap into a broader realm where nutrition, public health, and research intersected. Her work at prestigious institutions like Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Boston Medical Center illustrates her expanding role as a researcher and public health advocate.
Work Experience
Her role as a Graduate Research Assistant at Boston Medical Center allowed her to delve into the intricacies of interdisciplinary education in medical settings. She engaged in statistical and qualitative analysis, enhancing her research credentials. This position also involved extensive data coding and the development of coding dictionaries and interview guides, showcasing her analytical prowess and attention to detail. Her work contributed significantly to the understanding of interprofessional education and its practical applications in healthcare settings. While working in Boston Medical Center she simultaneously was working with Brigham and Women’s as a data analyst Her job entailed intaking, loading and integrating large volumes of raw, complex healthcare data from various health plans and disparate sources. She also developed and implemented SQL script to normalize and reformat client data elements into company standards. Finally, she conducted preliminary and final QA reviews to ensure consistency and integrity of reporting outcomes.
Harvard Medical and Mass General
Her work at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital was pivotal in the field of diabetes research. As a research coordinator, she was instrumental in the HINT-GDM and CGM-A1C studies, focusing on innovative nutritional therapies for diabetes management. This role required meticulous planning, coordination, and execution of complex research protocols. Her contributions were vital in advancing the understanding of diabetes treatment, demonstrating your commitment to pushing the boundaries of medical research. She lead the team with 2 Principal Investigators on 2 studies: HINT-GDM (Heterogeneity Informed Nutritional Therapy - Gestational and Diabetes Mellitus) and CGM-A1C (Continuous Glucose Monitoring- A1C) by preparing materials for the study (consent forms, a detailed protocol, etc.) as well as screening, recruiting, and conducting study visits to analyzing the study data and presenting findings for the study.

As the Head of Holistic Health at Ekaanta, Manvi Lohia's current role is a culmination of her extensive experience in health and nutrition. In this position, she is responsible for overseeing and integrating various aspects of holistic health practices, which include nutritional counseling, conducting nutrition seminars for corporates, curating new wellness programs which are focused on the amalgamation of traditional ayurveda practices and modern evidence based nutritional science, and the development of holistic health strategies for sustainable health.
